Emergency and Peters Township school officials recently staged a mock prom disaster. Student volunteers from Tom Savini’s Special Make-Up Effects Program used their creative talents to dramatize the mock prom disaster in both an enlightening and compelling way. Their efforts helped open the eyes to the seriousness of driving while under the influence to the high school students.
Hold On! We just got word that Doug Fairall is going to be teaching Cosmetic Make-Up and Fashion and Performance Make-Up Courses in Tom Savini’s Special Make-Up Effects Program over the summer 2012 semester! We CANNOT Wait! Doug is a member of the IATSE 798 Makeup and Hair Union in New York as well as has worked on some pretty spectacular films! Check him out!

From the imagination of Dorian Cleavenger comes five short stories that weave intricately into a feature length film - each fable coming from fairytales the world has forgotten or chose to leave in the darkness…
The first short is entitled The Companion which is written, directed and designed by Cleavenger. The masterful piece has come to life by all the talented students across the DEC campus. The overall goal is to unite all the various programs at DEC to work collaboratively on one project that will shine on their resumes. The student and instructor enthusiasm received thus far has been unmatched!
The students are excited to get started! Cassandra Melena will star as two characters in The Companion with the set constructed by Britt Gentsch, a full creature suit constructed by Tess Laeh and Wesley South along with countless other students from Tom Savini’s Special Make-Up Effects Program, The Cosmetology Academy, The Factory Digital Filmmaking Program, and Dorian’s Fantasy Art Program.
We’ve seen a lot of stellar shorts come out of The Factory Digital Filmmaking Program here at DEC; some are simply wonderful as brief visits with strange beings and strange worlds, and some are already being adapted as feature films (like Requiem for the Damned). Cleavenger’s anthology (yet to be titled) is sure to be a popular hit!
Cleavenger and team would like to thank all those affiliated with the project for your artistry and passion, especially the alumni and instructors, who continue to be a guiding light for the students.
This project is anticipated to take approximately one year to complete all five short stories. For more information about world-renowned fantasy artist, Dorian Cleavenger, please visit his website at www.dorianart.com.
